Arizona Juggernauts Add Phoenix Native Rashie Hodge Jr. to Defensive Unit
Arizona Juggernauts Sign Phoenix Native Rashie Hodge Jr.
TEMPE, Arizona — International Arena League (IAL) — The Arizona Juggernauts have added a hometown defender to their inaugural roster, signing linebacker Rashie Hodge Jr., a Phoenix native and former University of Arizona standout known for his speed, physicality, and high-energy defensive play.
For the Juggernauts, the signing represents both a defensive upgrade and a connection to Arizona football roots. Hodge built his reputation as a relentless linebacker capable of covering ground quickly, attacking the ball carrier, and bringing intensity to every snap.
The 5-foot-11, 214-pound linebacker played college football at Glendale Community College before moving on to New Mexico State, where he recorded one of the most productive seasons of his career with 90 total tackles and double-digit tackles for loss. His performance earned him recognition as one of the Aggies’ most disruptive defensive players before transferring to the University of Arizona.
With the Wildcats, Hodge continued to showcase his versatility and athleticism at the Pac-12 level while competing against some of the nation’s top offenses. His ability to read plays quickly and close space made him a consistent presence around the football.
Arizona Juggernauts Head Coach Marcus Caldwell believes Hodge brings exactly the type of defensive mindset the team is building around as it prepares for its first International Arena League season.
“Rashie is the kind of linebacker that changes the energy of a defense,” Caldwell said. “He plays fast, he’s aggressive, and he has a natural instinct for finding the ball. In arena football, where the pace of the game is nonstop, having a defender with his range and awareness is extremely valuable.”
Juggernauts General Manager David Ortega said signing a local Arizona athlete was also important for the organization as it builds a connection with fans across the Valley.
“Our goal is to build a team that represents Arizona,” Ortega said. “Rashie grew up here, played college football here, and now he gets to continue his career here. That kind of story matters to our fans and to the culture we’re building with the Juggernauts.”
For Hodge, the opportunity to play professionally in his home state makes the moment even more meaningful.
“It means everything to represent Arizona,” Hodge said. “This is where my football journey started. Now I get to compete at the professional level and do it in front of the community that supported me growing up. I’m ready to bring everything I’ve got to this team.”
As the Juggernauts continue assembling their roster ahead of the 2026 season, the addition of Hodge gives Arizona another versatile defensive weapon capable of impacting the fast-paced, high-scoring environment of arena football.
